Activities & Trips
The other part of summer at Delphi is FUN!
Students are given a wide selection of activities from which to choose. While every
summer is different, students may learn how to rock climb, build their own robot,
or take care of an animal.
Many students love going swimming every week, or attending an on-campus sports camp
in baseball or soccer. Most students go on day trips every week to various locations
around the Bay Area. They may go to the beach, the San Mateo County Fair, the Monterey
Bay aquarium or the Oakland Zoo. Older students may enjoy themselves at a waterslide
park, go horseback riding or bounce for an afternoon at Sky High trampoline center.
Last year, groups of older students wrote and acted in silent films that were then
premiered at our very own film festival complete with "Delphi Academy Awards" and
a red carpet for the stars. Our Summer Choir was invited to sing the National Anthem
to kick off the San Jose Grand Prix! The students rehearsed daily, got to meet the
drivers and gave a great performance at the race attended by over 100,000 fans.
Summer camping trips are another favorite among students. The very youngest children
get their first experience sleeping away from home with an overnight stay in tents
pitched on campus. Slightly older students, camp for three days in the nearby hills
of Saratoga at beautiful and cozy Memorial Park. They swim, play volleyball, do
arts and crafts, and hike through the redwood forest. Older students take longer
trips to campsites around the Bay Area, or even to Lake Shasta or Yosemite, where
they enjoy hiking, fishing, swimming, boating and more.
